41" x 24" (104 cm x 55 cm)
Inspired by M.C. Escher's work in tessellations, I drafted the elephants in a translational symmetry. The elephants are pieced in cream and gray dupioni silks.
I embellished the elephants in the ceremonious style, with a variety of organic cotton, turquoise, tiger's eye, Australian jasper, amethyst, red agate, leopard jasper, unakite, red tourmaline, sodalite, wood, veriscite, moss agate, oyster shell, scallop shell, and freshwater pearls.
The front and borders are raw silk. The batting and backing are organic cotton. Finished with a sewn-in hanging sleeve, to hang on a decorative rod.
